Mrs. Frank T. Hook spent Tuesday in Greatfalls attending a district meeting of the Red Cross. She also visited friends.
Mrs. Richard Gardner has arrived from Europe to be with her mother, Mrs. John Schreiner, who is to enter a hospital in Billings in a few days for possible surgery. Mrs. Gardner said she took a plane out of Paris and was 12 hours en route with a slight delay in Billings.
We were sorry to hear that Gerald Berberet met with a rather painful accident while playing basketball. He fell, spraining his leg and of course breaking his glasses. We’ll be seeing you around soon, Gerald.

F.G. McCarthy who has been the faithful Secretary of the Townsend Chamber of Commerce since its organization a few years ago has been advanced to the head of the Chamber as its President, which selection was made by the nominating committee this week.
Earl Bell of the Cash and Carry Grocery was a business visitor in the Capital City Wednesday.
Mrs. Lewis Kramp and Mrs. John Sitton motored to Helena Saturday with Miss Francis Bowen shopping.
Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Des Champs of Beaver Creek were Helena visitors last Saturday evening remaining for the Grizzly-Carroll basket ball game, the Carroll College winning by a close game.
100 Years Ago this Week
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Carpenter produced the harmony for the Leap year ball at Manhattan Friday evening last.
Miss Vera Ross was absent from school last week because of illness.
Thos. F. O’Connor delivered two very fine pianos to Toston parties Thursday. One went to the town hall and the other went to Mr. Frank Shull. Mr. O’Connor also transacted other business in the upper part of the valley on his trip.
On Saturday evening, Jan. 18th the relatives and friends gathered at the beautiful home of S. H. Suter and wife, one and one half miles northeast of town and gave Mr. Suter a happy surprise in honor of his thirty fifth birthday. Mr. Suter received a number of useful presents.
