The fish are biting, so come one and all and good luck to everyone!!
Although the pressure ridges kept most of the vehicles from venturing out onto the ice, a full field of fishermen enjoyed the 2007 Lions Perch Derby. This year, the ice seems to be even better and more accessible. Fun is sure to be had by all.
The Board of Directors of the State Bank of Townsend announced on Wednesday of this week that $1,000,000 has been set aside for residential sidewalk improvements and development in the City of Townsend. The bank will be offering five-year home equity loans and five-year unsecured loans to local home owners who wish to improve their sidewalks.
“We are proud of our community,” stated Townsend State Bank President Mike Richter. “These funds will be offered as low interest loans to qualified borrowers to improve or add sidewalks in front of their homes.”
According to bank officials, they believe these loans will increase the safety of local pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists. In addition, an improved sidewalk system is believed to improve the quality of a neighborhood and provide an enviromentally sound and healthy alternative to driving. They look forward to working to support and improve the community.
The loans are available to qualified home owners that reside within the city limits of Townsend. They are exclusively for the use of improving existing sidewalks or adding new ones. The program will be available throughout the year, and will expire on Dec. 31, 2008. Some restrictions, fees and requirements will apply.
All Townwsend residents are encouraged to apply. For more information or to apply for one of these sidewalk improvement loans, contact Henry Murray, John Rauser or Reggie Schapp at the State Bank of Townsend, 400 Broadway in Townsend, or call 266-3176.
