25 Years Ago this Week

Last weekend Pearl Barraugh attended a dance in Helena with the senior citizens. Also attending the fun was Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Domer, Martha Rogstad, Albert Nave and Mrs. Ellis Lewis.
Last weekend Mike and Jeannie Kiekbush attended the Extension Homemakers party hosted by Bill and Anita Kearns. The party had a Centennial theme. Also Attending were, Harry and Linda Johnson, Bob and Karen Anderson, Del and Audrey Schulbring, Jack and Lou Belt and Vern and Gay Grimsrud. A good time was had by all.


50 Years Ago this Week


Mrs. Gene McCarthy entertained her bridge club Tuesday morning. Mrs. W.G. Kirscher and Mrs. Cora Poole won high, slam and second prizes. Mrs. Jas Kearns and Mrs. Van Voast were other guests.
The Brownie scouts met with Mrs. Garrison Rains Thursday after School. We Started making pin cushions for our Valentines gifts.
Eileen Goodwin brought candy for our treats and Mrs. Rains served Kool Aid.
Duane Hanson, Manager of the Montana Elevator, was in Bozeman Monday through Wednesday of this week attending a feed conference.

75 Years Ago this Week


W.G. Kirsher and Cleveland Wallace returned to Townsend from Missoula Tuesday noon having returned from a Beet Growers meeting on Monday.
A happy group of Townsend young people enjoyed a fine outing on Sunday in the form of a Ski Party at the goodman camp on Deep Creek. They were forced to return home however in the storm, but reached their destination without any injury from cold and drastic drop of mercury.
Quite a number of Townsend people enjoyed the dance to Mac’s Greater Aces band in Toston Saturday night about Ninety couples attending, it is reported.

100 Years Ago this Week


Most every one secured their ice crop. It is said to be of fine quality this year, being about the usual thickness and very pure.
There is some railroad talk these days. It is hinted that Mr. Anson Bennett of Toston, in company with other parties have the grading contract with the Milwaukee from Lombard Bridge to the bridge at his place.
