Seventh grade girls win tourney

February 21, 2008

The 7th grade Lady Bulldogs were determined to bring home a trophy from the Three Forks Tournament on February 7 and 9 and that is just what they did! The Lady Bulldogs have 13 players on their team and came into the tournament with a 4-0 record. They were playing Ennis first on Thursday at 3:30; a team they have not yet played. They came out ready to play and ended the first half 27-4 and the ending score being 36-12.
Their next opponent would be Manhattan at 7:30. They had played this team once before, but they knew it would be a tough game. The ladies had a long wait, but that did not seem to affect their game. They wanted to play in the championship and that meant beating Manhattan. Everyone on the team played hard and defeated Manhattan 35-10, putting them in the championship game on Saturday against Dillon.
They watched Dillon play on Thursday and their team had quite a few tall players and quick guards, but the team was ready for a challenge. The Bulldogs took the lead right off the bat and didn’t let up ending the first half 21 to 5. Third quarter Dillon came out strong offensively and scored 13 points in the third quarter. The Lady Bulldogs would need to focus on their defense fourth quarter if they wanted to win the game! The Bulldogs came out fourth quarter very aggressive, and defeated Dillon 44 - 31.
The Lady Bulldogs entered the tournament with high expectations, and with teamwork and determination, they brought home the trophy. “Everyone on the team contributed 100% and it was a great tournament! This is a fun group of girls to coach!” commented Coach Woodger.
