David W. Middlemas, 66, of Townsend passed away January 30, 2008 at St. Peter’s Hospital. David was born December 17, 1941 in Helena, to David and Bernice (Nobel) Middlemas.
David grew up in Helena graduating from Helena High School. After high school David went to Western Montana College at Dillon.
David married Valerie Horne September 19, 1981 at Townsend, Montana. David worked as a heavy equipment operator in civil construction. He was a member of Trailhead Christian Fellowship. He enjoyed hot rods, football, baseball and old movies.
Memorial services were held Monday, Feb, 4, 2008 at Trailhead Christian Fellowship with Pastor Mike Dexter officiating. Connors Funeral Home assisted the family with the services.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Edie Aristonic. He is survived by his wife Valerie of Townsend, five sons Wesley (Lara) Middlemas, Columbus, Jeffery Middlemas, Tri-cities, Wash., Robert (Tracy) Middlemas, Seattle, Wash., Tyler (Jeanna) Middlemas, Missoula, and J.R. Middlemas, Townsend, and four daughters Vicki Jette, Missoula, Valerie Waters, Stevensville, Stephenie (Rich) Birgenheier, Missoula and Charity (Jason) Krebs, Missoula. He is also survived by one brother George Middlemas, Helena and three sisters Frances Stevens, Helena, Alice Cote, Campbell, Calif., and Doris (Les) House, Powell, Wyo.; 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Edith Myrtle Steyee, 76, a retired health care provider from Shelby, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008, at her home due to natural causes. Memorial services were held Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 at the Whitted Funeral Chapel. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Townsend. 
Survivors include her daughters, Kari Moore if Illinois, Elizabeth Schwitzer of Washington and Elizabeth Rood of Highwood; sons, Lawrence King of Illinois, Alan King of Alaska, Fred King of Helena and Bill Robbins of Kevin; sister, Marie DeBorde of California; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husbands; Lloyd Hannon and James Steyee; and siblings, Ray, Lawrence, Lloyd, Fred and Ken Toney, Marlyn Shearer, Wilena Leanhart and Elouise Ruple.
Edith worked at the drug store in Sunburst and later as a health care provider for Toole County for many years before retiring and moving back to Townsend. She returned to Shelby in August of 2007.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, sewing, doing crossword puzzles and quilting.

Edith was born May 5, 1931 at Townsend where she grew up and graduated from high school. She married Lloyd Hannon in 1960 and they moved to Toole County the next year. Lloyd died in 1984. She married James Steyee October 22, 1994; he died in 2005.

Mary M. Knapp (Glasson), beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away, January 23, 2008. Mary was born on July 12, 1920 in Kellogg, Idaho.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Iva Glasson, and her husband of 66 years, Earle F. Knapp. Mary is survived by her four children, Robert, Randy, Rick and Diann; sisters, Hazel and Joyce; nine grandchildren ; and five great-grandchildren.

, Mary enjoyed spending time with her husband in Arizona, Mexico and at their ranch on Duck Creek near Townsend.
