Townsend athletes receive honors

Several Broadwater High School athletes recently received honors from regional and statewide coaches.
In wrestling, nine locals were named to All-Division. They were as follows:
98- Jade Rauser and Keagan Larson
105- Val Rauser
112-Zack Spritzer and Frank Potter
119- Tony Michaelson and Joel Harvey
125-Britt Thompson

160- Justin O’Myer
Jade Rauser, Val Rauser and Britt Thompson were also All-State.
In boys basketball, three locals were named to All-Conference teams. Tim Gilligan was voted to First Team All-Conference, while Chris Ahern and Cody Harris were named to Second Team All-Conference.
In girls basketball, Alexa Audet and Carrie Myers were named to First Team All-Conference; Heather Anderson and Emily Watson were named to Second Team All-Conference. Myers also earned All-State honors.
In addition to this recognition, three of the Lady Bulldogs were selected to play in the Treasure State Classic Basketball Tournament. Carrie Myers, Alexa Audet and Alyssa Dinsdale traveled to Billings to compete in the prestigious event. The classic is a gathering of all the top senior basketball players in all classifications. The three girls did a great job of representing there school and community.
BHS girls earning basketball honors this year were Heather Anderson, Second Team All-Conference; Alexa Audet, First Team All-Conference; Carrie Myers, First Team All-Conference and All-State; and Emily Watson, Second Team All-Conference.
Members of the BHS Wrestling Team, selected for All-Division honors, include Justin O’Myer, Britt Thompson, Joel Harvey, Tony Michaelson, Frank Potter, Zack Spritzer, Val Rauser, Keagan Larson and Jade Rauser.

BHS cheerleaders wrap up another season

The winter sports season was another exciting one at BHS.  As you attended games to support the teams you probably heard the cheerleaders encouraging them from the sidelines.  During timeouts you might have noticed one of the girls flying through the air or standing tall as the squad displayed their stunting talents to encourage your team spirit.  If you are a hard core fan you might have even enjoyed the cheerleaders halftime performance, which they were able to choreograph themselves.  The BHS cheerleaders had a great winter season.  Our squad was made up for nine girls: Yuliya Havron, Mikhalia Harper, Becky Hunsaker, Lindsey Little, Nichole McGuigan, Hunter Sagissor, Ann Truesdell, Logan Weidman, and Micah Weidman.  Melissa Hansen was a JV cheerleader, but you could see her on the sidelines supporting the team at several varsity games.  Thanks to the girls for a great season and we are looking forward to next year.

Lions Club 28th annual Basketball Tournament this weekend

Basketball enthusiasts will be swarming to the Broadwater High School gyms this weekend as the local Lions Club hosts its 28th annual basketball tournament.
Seven teams will vie for bragging rights in the double elimination tournament scheduled to kick off at 5:45 p.m. this Friday. Games will continue through Saturday and conclude with the championship matchup at 2:45 on Sunday.
The Broadwater Lions Club is limiting competitors to those that currently live here or have graduated from here.
Adding to the entertainment during the tournament will be local dance teams, and a three-point shooting contest. See the bracket below for details.
A Calcutta Auction of the teams will take place at the Commercial Bar at 10 p.m. on Friday night.
