The annual Walk-A-Thon sponsored by the Broadwater Jaycees for the support of March of Dimes fight against birth defects will again be held for area hikers Saturday April 23.
The Earthquake Studies Office recorded 327 local earthquakes from Montana and adjacent parts of Idaho and Wyoming during the first three months of 1983. Terry McArdle went to Flathead Lake over the weekend with Bob Gingrich to go fishing. Mike and Dorothy Sitton were down to Oppie and Ida’s for a couple games of Pinochle Friday evening. Oppie and Ida played cards up at the Sittons, Friday the ladies won two games and Saturday evening the men won two games. so I guess that makes them even. Mary Jane and Ron Gallahon left Thursday for Choteau for a few days of fishing and visiting with his parents. Todd and Wanda Moldenhaur enjoyed the College Rodeo in Bozeman Thursday evening. |

Meet the new owners. Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Brammer who are joining his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. G. Z. Brammer, in publishing the Townsend Star, beginning next week. They have lived at Berryville, Ark., before coming here where Mr. Brammer was in the insurance business many years.
Mrs. Anna Winifred Etzwiler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loyman Etzwiler of Townsend, and Walter F. Rauser, son of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Rauser of Toston, were married Saturday afternoon, April 12, at the Episcopal church in Townsend. Mr.and Mrs. Henry Foos and Allin moved from the railroad maintenance house to Bear mouth. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Bovee and three children moved into the house vacated by the Foos family. Mrs. John Williams spent last Monday at the Longhorn Ranch east of Townsend with Mrs. W. G. Williams. who had been ill. |

Mr. and Mrs. John Bomar and family have moved back from Elkam where they have been employed for some months.
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Kimpton returned to Helena after visiting relatives here for the past week. Miss Bernice Noble, student nurse at St. John hospital, Helena, is convalescing from a recent operation at the home of her sister, Mrs. Walter Ragen on Ray Creek. Miss Agnes Peterson, county health nurse, administered toxoid and vaccine to many children of the valley, who applied on Tuesday of this week, taking care of 34 children. Fred Harvey and Allen Patterson departed Tuesday for Elliston where they will be employed on the Highway. They took their truck which will also be used in road construction. |

Dr. Chas Smith of Kendal, accompanied by his family arrived in town Wednesday evening. Their arrival in town was wholly influenced by the illness of Mr. J.R. Marks, Mrs. Smith’s father.
Mr. J.C. Stuart of Sixteen Mile is reported very ill with pneumonia. His sons Robert and Frank were summoned to his bed side on Monday evening, the former coming from Great Falls and the latter from Boulder. Next Monday is the date set for the Bal Poudre, which by the way is a common, good old fashioned, dance. Of course the ladies will appear in their best gowns, but Easter being a time of colorful decorations, nothing out of the usual is expected. Mr. W.E. Tierney who was very ill several weeks with pneumonia is out again greatly to the relief and satisfaction of his many friends in this vicinity. |
