28th Annual Lions Club Community Benefit Basketball Tourney successful

The 28th Annual Broadwater County Lions Club Community Benefit Tournament was a great success with wonderful support from the community. It’s always nice to see all of the former players come out to play and see friends gather for this event. We had many activities during the half times to keep people entertained. We had dancers of all ages who did a wonderful job. There was the Fishtale Tavern 3-point contest that also kept fans entertained. We had 22 contestants participate this year, with the top four shooters going to the semi finals at haft time of the Consolation Game. Eric Flynn and Mark Wickens qualified again this year, as well as Kris Smith and Chris Ahern. Flynn and Wickens advanced to the finals which were held at half-time of the championship game. They shot and tied once again so we went to a one shot tie breaker from just over the half court line and once again Eric Flynn came out on top, hitting the long shot on the first try.
There were seven teams this year. Teams included the defending champs from All West Capital, and last years runner up team Commercial Bar, Vogl Construction, Townsend Taxidermy/Campbell Plumbing and Heating, the Jasper Sky Pigs of White Sulphur, and a new team form C R Cabinets.
The Broadwater Lions Club would like to thank the community and everyone who participated in the tournament as well as the fans who came and supported these local ball players.
