Townsend track teams score high at MC Invite

The Townsend track teams attended the Manhattan Christian Invitational Meet on April 26th. As a team the Lady Bulldogs took first place and the boys ended up eleventh. All the BHS athletes had a good showing. “We had great performances all the way around,” explained Coach Travis Rauh. “Even the athletes that didn’t place had at least one personal best, and that’s a great sign for our program.”

Coach Rauh went on to explain that how the Townsend tracksters are practicing and preparing during the week attributes to their high level of competition right now.
“Carrie was exceptional once again,” Rauh said. “She really sets the tone for us, and her mental toughness is as good as it gets, which is why she is so consistant.”
“Jordan is gaining confidence and keeps getting better and better,” continued Rauh. “She is now one of the better distance runners in the state.”
Rauh also complimented Coach Racht on doing a great job with the jumpers. “Deleware, Lynsie and Alyssa keep getting better each week,” he concluded.
Several of the Townsend girls also competed in a Top Ten Meet in Missoula. While no team scores were recorded, the Lady Dogs came away with several impressive places.

Girls golf team breaks school record

Monday, April 28, the Dogs played the Manhattan Invitational Golf Tournement
The tournament featured many top teams from this side of the state and offered some great competition. The girls team score of 359 broke the school record by 11 strokes. Medaling for the girls, Emily Watson tied for 3rd overall, as well as Jane’a Ehlke with 6th place overall. The Boys team came in 10th place with a team score of 382.

Chris Ahem - 94, Mick Moos - 95, Blake Rauser - 95, Jim Woodring - 98, Tyler Cooper 100.
Last week onTuesday, April 22nd, the Townsend JV Golf team was off to Big Timber. Alexa Robishon won her first tournament with a score of 55. Rachel Cordova placed second for the girls with a 64. And also medaling was Clancy Purlock for the boys grabbing 5th place. There was no team scoring because the match was limited to 9 holes.

Coach Pete Robischon had this to say about the team:” Despite very windy conditions, I thought on a whole we competed very well. Individually Alexa Robischon won her first tournament, and it was the first medal for both Rachel Cordova and Clancy Spurlock who both played well again this week.

Tennis team tops competition during busy schedule

Last week was a busy one for the Lady Bulldog Tennis Team. Tuesday the Tennis team hosted Boulder. The home team came out 5-1 in that dual. On Thursday Whitehall came to town and Townsend won 4-2.
On Friday the Lady Dawgs traveled to Havre to take on Chinook and Wolf Point. Last season Chinook finished 3rd at state and Wolf Point 4th so both duals were expected to be highly competitive. In the Chinook dual Townsend downed the Sugarbeeters 4-2. The Wolf Point dual was 6-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Performances to note for the weekend. Lindsey Little and Becky Moudree defeated 3 returning state placing teams including the returning champions. Kyndra Thompson showed her intestinal fortitude by posting a comeback win versus the eventual champion of the tourney. Jen Johnson captured her first tourney championship in impressive style by dominating four straight opponents.
The Townsend JV also had a great Saturday by going 12-1 in match play in Chinook.

Kyndra Thompson beat Sara Briese (BS) 6-0, Lindsey Little and Becky Moudree beat Helman Dugan (Chin) 61, Gaelyn Domino beat Mikala Lackey 6-2 (CJI), Jess Sagissor and Logan Weidman beat Naeseths/Lundy (FB) 6-4, Ceara Harrigfeld and Jen Eliellost to Moxley/Finley (Chin) 2-6, Jen Johnson defeated Sam Shinaburger (FB) 6-3, and Micah Weidman beat Deana Woodhouse (FB) 6-2.

Kyndra Thompson lost to Darbi Brady (FF) 4-6, Lindsey Little and Becky Moudree beat Jacobsen/Krause (FF) 6-1, Gaelyn Domino beat Cassie Toavs (WP) 6-1, Jess Sagissor and Logan Weidman lost to Noricki Rickter (Cn) 4-6, Ceara Harrigfeld and Jen Eliel beat Wicks Wickum (Cn) 7-5, Jen Johnson defeated Lauren Woods (Cn) 6-2-, and Micah Weidman lost to Jessi Freeman (FF) 6-4.
