Townsend tracksters excel at Districts

Carrie Myers and Jordan Audet ran circles around the competition at the 6B District track meet last Saturday May 10th. Carrie Myers medaled first in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and Jordan Audet followed up Carries Triple with a hat trick of her own, knocking off the 800m, 1600m and 3200m sweeping all six of the running events. The Lady Dogs went on to finish the running events with a first place in the 4x100 relay and second place in the 4x400 as well with the team of Carrie Myers, Delaware Hansen, Kelsey Wickens and Lynsie Williams. The girls took second overall at the meet with a combined score of 165.
Carrie Myers and Jordan Audet both received most outstanding athlete for District.

The Bulldog boys placed 4th in the meet overall. Jager Warner out distanced his opponents grabbing first place in the 1600m as well as the 3200m. Strong arming the competition was Kyland Santos in the throwing events medaling in all three throwing events.

Coach Rauh had the following comments for the meet; “It was nice to start the post season. I felt we competed well. Jager had a nice meet and were looking for great times out of him this week.
“Becky and Stephanie really stepped up in the throwing events, if they continue that this week they will be on their way to state. We are looking forward to the challenge of the Divisional meet and expect to perform at a high level.”

BHS Tennis Team tops Divisionals

This past Weekend the Broadwater Bulldog tennis team won the Southeast Divisional Tennis Tournament for the second year in a row. Team scores were Townsend 55, Boulder 33, and Whitehall 21. Qualifiers for the Bulldogs included Gaelyn Domino, Kyndra Thompson, Townsend; 4, Kelsey Cronan, Whitehall; 5, Michele Schahczenski, Whitehall.
Coach O’Dell commented that “Micah and Logan did not qualify for the state tournament, but Micah won a match for the Bulldogs and had an outstanding season. She will be a force to be reckoned with next year in singles. Logan picked up a pair of wins and played her best tennis this year. She is a young player and will have a great year next year as well.”

Singles
Championship- Tiffany Johnson, Boulder, def. Gaelyn Domino, Townsend. 6-4, 6-4.
“Gaelyn had a solid weekend and is beginning to gain her form from before her injury. I think Gaelyn will have a great state tourney,” stated Coach O’Dell.
Semifinals- Domino, Townsend, def. Kelsey Cronan, Whitehall (4-6, 6-1, 6-0); Johnson, Boulder, def. Kyndra Thompson, Townsend (6-4, 6-4).
Third-Place- Thompson, Townsend, def. Cronan, Whitehall 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Coach O’Dell comments, “Kyndra showed immense heart in the tourney by coming back from a set deficit in the consolation championships and defeated Cronan soundly in the next two sets. Kyndra was an All-State tennis player last season and is excited to try to climb higher on the podium this season.”
Consolation Semifinals- Cronan, Whitehall, def. Schahczenski, Whitehall; Thompson, Townsend, def. Janyssa Overturf, Boulder, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Fifth-Place- Schahczenski, Whitehall, def. Overturf, Boulder, 6-2, 6-4.

“This team’s only loss came at the hands of the defending class A state champions. The are playing brilliant tennis and should go deep in the tournament,” commented Coach O’Dell.
