Kimberly Ann Young became the bride of  A.J. Clayton in a pretty little wedding at the home of the grooms sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bucy of Townsend.
A motorist was in for a big surprise. After he advised another motorist he had left his lights on, the man pulled a rifle and pistol from his truck.
The winner of the weekly fish contest was Jerry Harpsper of Butte who entered a 6 lb. 12 oz. rainbow caught in Canyon Ferry. Harpsper was the only winner this week.
The Forest Service has gone into the U.S. District Court in an attempt to stop what it is calling road construction with heavy equipment and explosives inside the Elkhorns Wilderness Study Area. District Ranger Jerry Adelblue said Tuesday that rangers last week discovered unauthorized construction across national forest land to private property at Crow Creek Falls.
50 Years
Senator Lester C. Goodwin reports that the Montana State Highway Department had accepted a recommendation to redesignate state highways No. 1 and No 33 as No. 287. The road will be remarked this year and be on maps next year.

Harold Slater, former Broadwater County high school instructor stopped briefly in Townsend Monday for a visit with friends. He was returning to Lewistown after attending the Vigilante Parade in Helena Friday.
The Winston Volunteer Fire department answered  a call from the Charles Baum Ranch Saturday afternoon. A small brush fire was quickly extinguished and there was no damage done to the ranch.
75 Years
What is considered the best news in many days or months, was that which was released last  night at the Commercial club meeting, telling of the recent leasing of almost the entire Indian Creek canyon by the Winston Brothers of Minneapolis. These men are financiers, and are interested in mining ventures all over the country, and are coming into this county with views of putting a gold dredge in Indian Creek canyon.
Ben Clopton arrived here last week  from Hollywood and is enjoying a rest on the ranch of his parents here. Mr. Clopton is an artist and originator of  one of the famous talking cartoons which bring great entertainment on the silver screen.
Mrs. O. E. White and two children were in town Wednesday, coming down from Indian Creek Long Lodge where they are residing this summer. Mr. White is engaged in mining.
Two students, Miss Jennie Rose and William Steiner are in Missoula representing Broadwater County high school in the interscholastic State Track Meet. Mrs. Miriam Whitham accompanied the students.
100 Years
It is being reported that Helena is being rapidly relieved of their Chinese population.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. LeFever and children arrived from Dorsey a few days ago and are at present residing in town. Mr. LeFever recently purchased the Howell property on Front St. and is engaged in improving the same. He is also making improvements on his residence property on the same street.
During the last few days there have been innumerable shipments of fruit trees taken to different parts of the valley. Our people have wisely reached the conclusion that it cost no more to nurture a fruit tree than one which has no beneficial mission other than spreading its branches over a fellow on a hot day.
Just how do daily papers of the state become so badly misled as to publish details of  the death of Mr. James Stuart is a mystery to many. We are glad to note that the press for once at least, was mistaken, and that Mr. Stuart is rapidly approaching recovery to good health.
