Myers leads Townsend in impressive home track meet

It was the Carrie Myers show at the Thursday, May 1st Townsend Top eight track meet. Carrie earned the “Most outstanding Female Athlete” title. Carrie was able to secure first place in the 100m, 200m and 300m races. As well as Townsend grabbing first in the 4X100 and 4X400 relay.
First place stats:

Jordan Audet - 1600m 05:46.8, Delaware Hansen - Triple Jump 32’, Allysa Dinsdale - Long Jump 14’7.25”, Delaware Hansen - High Jump 4’10”
The Townsend Boys fared very well at the meet as well grabbing three first place medals. Kyland Santos continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the throwing events medaling in the shot put, discus and Javelin.

The Dogs were off to Billings on Saturday May 3rd for the Stillwater Al Memorial. The girls fared well, yet again in this event the Townsend Girls placed second with a score of 75 points, falling just short of Huntley Project’s combined score of 78 in a close one. The Jordan Audet led the pack grabbing first in the 800m 2:27.47and 1600m 5:31.53 the Townsend girls also grabbed first in the 1600m relay with a time of 4:21.35.

Also medaling were: Lidnsey Williams 4th - triple jump, Alyssa Dinsdale 5th - triple jump, Delaware Hansen tied 4th for high Jump, Alyssa Dinsdale 4th - Long Jump, Lynsie Williams 5th - Long Jump, Kelsey Wiekens 5th - 200m
The Boys placed in the middle of the pack, 11th in a field of 19. Kyland Santo medaled in shot put and discus continuing to be a force to be reckoned with.

Kyland Santos - shot put 4th 46’9”; discus 5th 130’2”, Jager Warner 3rd 3200m; 1600m 6th 4:59.02, Ben Robertson 800m 6th 2:06.40, Cody Harris 4th 400m 52.83.
Coach Rauh had the following to say after the meet “once again I was very pleased with the way we competed. Lynsie and Alyssa were nothing short of exceptional. They jump well with the wind and into the wind. Kyland was tremendous at the Top 8 meet. His work in the weight room is paying off on the field.

Townsend Junior High Track Team breaks records in home meet

The Bulldog Junior high team held a meet in Townsend on Friday May Second. Townsend led the pack grabbing twelve 1st place , ten second place, 8 third place medals (and more). Also Chiara Warner Set a new record in the 1600m with a time of 6:04.16 as well as Magalyn Rauser on the Javelin with a 66’4” thrust, Colin Hoeffner on the 200m 25.87 and Tony Cordova on the shot put with a 38’ 9” hurl.

In fact there were so many Dogs medaling in the top 6 places we only covered the top three places this week but in addition there were eight 4th placers, seven 5th place, and five 6th place medalists as well. Looks like the Townsend Track team may be a force to be reckoned with in the future.
The Jr. High team also had a meet in Bozeman on Saturday May 3rd. Again Chiara Warner Dominated the 1600m bettering her time on Thursday she pulled it down to 5:57.7 securing first place, Garrett Amundson also grabbed first in the discus event with a toss of 87’ 7”. These were the first place medalist for the meet..

Tennis team tops competition during busy schedule

Last week was a busy one for the Lady Bulldog Tennis Team. Tuesday the Tennis team hosted Boulder. The home team came out 5-1 in that dual. On Thursday Whitehall came to town and Townsend won 4-2.
On Friday the Lady Dawgs traveled to Havre to take on Chinook and Wolf Point. Last season Chinook finished 3rd at state and Wolf Point 4th so both duals were expected to be highly competitive. In the Chinook dual Townsend downed the Sugarbeeters 4-2. The Wolf Point dual was 6-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Performances to note for the weekend. Lindsey Little and Becky Moudree defeated 3 returning state placing teams including the returning champions. Kyndra Thompson showed her intestinal fortitude by posting a comeback win versus the eventual champion of the tourney. Jen Johnson captured her first tourney championship in impressive style by dominating four straight opponents.
The Townsend JV also had a great Saturday by going 12-1 in match play in Chinook.

Kyndra Thompson beat Sara Briese (BS) 6-0, Lindsey Little and Becky Moudree beat Helman Dugan (Chin) 61, Gaelyn Domino beat Mikala Lackey 6-2 (CJI), Jess Sagissor and Logan Weidman beat Naeseths/Lundy (FB) 6-4, Ceara Harrigfeld and Jen Eliellost to Moxley/Finley (Chin) 2-6, Jen Johnson defeated Sam Shinaburger (FB) 6-3, and Micah Weidman beat Deana Woodhouse (FB) 6-2.

Kyndra Thompson lost to Darbi Brady (FF) 4-6, Lindsey Little and Becky Moudree beat Jacobsen/Krause (FF) 6-1, Gaelyn Domino beat Cassie Toavs (WP) 6-1, Jess Sagissor and Logan Weidman lost to Noricki Rickter (Cn) 4-6, Ceara Harrigfeld and Jen Eliel beat Wicks Wickum (Cn) 7-5, Jen Johnson defeated Lauren Woods (Cn) 6-2-, and Micah Weidman lost to Jessi Freeman (FF) 6-4.

Lady golfers headed to State

Townsend girls golf team was on par at the divisional tournament in Missoula on May 3th securing third place with a 376 overall.
Emily Watson, in the spotlight, has won the title of district champion winning a playoff striking an 85 against Haylee Folkvord of Three Forks. Alexa Audet also medaled in the tournament placing 3rd and tying for fifth was Jane’a Ehlke.
All three of the girls have secured all conference spots, and the third place seat at the division tournament secured the girls position at state in Bozeman next week.
Girls Individual Scores:
Emily Watson 85, Alexa Audet 88, Jane’a Ehlke 90, Collette Chorney 104, Leigh West 108
The boys had a rough go of it, coming in last at the divisional tourney with a score of 403.

Chris Ahern 95, Mick Moos 104, Blake Rauser 111, Jim Woodring 103, Dana Sjostrom 101.
On May 1st the Townsend Golf team was in Three Forks for the Three forks invitational. The Townsend girls were on top scoring 2nd place overall in the team event with a score of 374.

The Boys did not have a team score.

JV team scores well
The JV Golf team steam rolled over the competition in the Gardiner invitational. The JV Girls fared very well grabbing 1st (Alexa Robischon), 2nd (Rachel Cordova)and 4th (Stephanie Ahern) in overall standings.

The JV boys also had two medaling, Tate Pool 4th and Tyler Cooper 5th.
